The Last Days of Bhisma Pancaka

Kartika Vrata Will End TOMORROW WEDNESDAY, November 25, 2015

Bhisma Pancaka: The last five days of Kartika month, Sunday – Wednesday, November 22-25, 2015, are known as Bhisma-Pancaka. Grandfather Bhisma fasted for these five days, preparing to give up his life. However one observes Kartika-vrata, one should intensify it for the last five days. Bhisma-pancaka refers to a special vow (vrata) that can be taken up by Vaisnavas during the last five days of the Damodara month. Here are some ways to amp up your Kartika vrata:
  • Read from Srila Prabhupada’s books
  • Attend morning class
  • Attend mangal arati
  • Do some unrecognized temple service
  • Donate for the cow program
  • Go on Friday Harinama in Gainesville
  • Help with Krishna Lunch at Santa Fe College
