Guidelines for Quarantining

CDC ACCEPTED NON-TEST BASED STRATEGY

1) People with mild to moderate illness who are not severely immunocompromised:

• At least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared AND
• At least 24 hours have passed since last fever without the use of fever-reducing medications AND 
• Symptoms (e.g. cough, shortness of breath) have improved

2) People who are not severely immunocompromised and
were asymptomatic throughout their infection may return to work when at least 10 days have passed since the date of their first positive viral diagnostic test.

3) People with severe to critical illness or who are severely immunocompromised:

• At least 10 days and up to 20 days have passed since symptoms first appeared
• At least 24 hours have passed since last fever without the use of fever- reducing medications AND
• Symptoms (e.g. cough, shortness of breath) have improved
• We request you have consultation with infection control experts

4) People who are severely immunocompromised but who
were asymptomatic throughout their infection may return to the temple when at least 10 days and up to 20 days have passed since the date of their first positive viral diagnostic test.

1) Covid+ and symptomatic:

• At least 24 hours have passed since last fever without the use of fever- reducing medications AND
• Symptoms (e.g., cough, shortness of breath) have improved AND
• At least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared OR
• Results are negative from at least 2 consecutive Covid tests collected ≥24 hours apart.

2) Covid+ but asymptomatic throughout the course of their infection:

• May return when at least 10 days have passed since the date of their first positive Covid test.

3) High risk exposure to Covid+ (less than 6 feet for more than 15 minutes and both persons not wearing a face covering):

• May return after 14 days without symptoms OR after a negative Covid test on day 9 following the last exposure.

For travelers from out-of-state:

• Travelers must obtain a test within three days of their departure, prior to arrival in Florida.
• The traveler must, upon arrival in Florida, quarantine for three days.
• On day 4 of their quarantine, the traveler must obtain another COVID test. If both tests comes back negative, the traveler may exit quarantine early upon receipt of the second negative diagnostic test.
